The Constitution of the BMRA in brief:

BMRA conscious of the need to contribute to nation building, appreciating the need to contribute individually and collectively to improving the quality of life and being aware of the need to establish a viable institutional structure to promote greater participation and the involvement of the whole community in the development process .

The Aims and Objectives

BMRA serve as entry point for development interventions in the community and coordinate internally initiated development activities. Mobilise internal and external resources (human, physical and financial) for community development. Asses, plan, monitor, evaluate and coordinate development projects in the community.

Provide for members any benefit as the general body of BMRA may determine, organise the annual Marathon Run to promote sport, raise funds to support community projects and create a platform to sensitise the community on pertinent social issues within the confines of the constitution of the Republic of The Gambia.

Plan of Action

BMRA starts preparations for the annual event six months before the date of the event to enable the organisers put in place all that is needed for a successful run. Each year a theme is carefully selected to act as a public sensitization platform to raise the awareness of the general public about pertinent social issues bearing on the wellbeing of the community. Members are given tasks to handle for the smooth coordination of the annual event.

BMRA hopes to organise a full marathon run of 42kms in 2012, making it one of the best and most popular Marathon Run events in West Africa.
